Since the beginning of 2024, the project manager of the Estonian Youth Wind Orchestra has been Johanna Niinemets.
Johanna is by profession a class and mathematics teacher and an acrobatics coach. She does not play any instrument, but she has sung in various choirs all her life, and music has long been a part of her life.
Johanna’s path to becoming the project manager of the Estonian Youth Wind Orchestra was mainly a coincidence of circumstances. Chief conductor Silver Niinemets was looking for a project manager to assist in organising camps and concerts, writing projects, and keeping an eye on all the bureaucracy. Since Johanna has long-term experience as a project manager of a sports school and as the head of a sports club, during which she has written various projects, organised competitions, camps, and other events, and since their cooperation went smoothly, Silver decided to offer the role specifically to Johanna.
Johanna enjoys working with the youth of the Estonian Youth Wind Orchestra. The young people enjoy music and playing instruments and always come to the camps with a smile. This gives motivation and energy to organize exciting and diverse camps and concerts for the orchestra's youth. In addition to organizational matters, Johanna’s great goal is to increase the visibility of the orchestra among young musicians in Estonia, and in achieving this goal, Johanna is greatly supported by orchestra's organising team.
